1 / 9

The 42 ft private boat La Leona is a full-day charter from Cartagena to the Rosario Islands for up to 24 guests. You will spot it from the dock: a black hull with yellow stripes, padded tan seating that wraps around the deck, a hardtop with speakers, sunbeds at the bow, twin 300 HP Yamaha engines, an interior toilet, a freshwater shower and a swim ladder. One fixed price covers the whole boat, with snorkel gear on board.

Pick La Leona for birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties or reunions of 15 to 24 people. Everyone rides together, the music plays from the hardtop speakers, and there is room to lie in the sun at the bow on the way to Cholón or a beach club.

How a day on La Leona works

Private transport picks you up where you are staying and takes you to the dock. The boat is at your disposal from 8:30 AM and leaves the islands by 4:00 PM at the latest. You choose your pickup time between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM, every 30 minutes. Both times depend on the weather and on the orders of the Cartagena Port Authority (Capitanía de Puerto), which has the final word on every departure for safety and to prevent accidents.

On board you travel with a captain, an assistant and a bilingual guide. The guide shares the best recommendations for the day, but the route follows what you want to see. There is one condition, and it is about safety: the boat travels in a single direction. It heads out toward the islands, turns around once and comes back to Cartagena, and on both legs you stop at whatever is on the way. It cannot go back and forth between distant points.

What the price includes

The price covers private transport with pickup, the bilingual guide, the crew, a cooler with ice, snorkel gear (masks and snorkels, without fins) and a reservation at a private beach. Food and drinks are not included, so you choose how to handle them. You can bring your own to enjoy on the boat or on public beaches, or add drinks and snacks as extras when you book.

Islands and beaches you can visit

We work with partner beaches such as Isla Capri and Rosario de Mar, where our guests are not charged for access as long as they eat and drink there. If you prefer another island, we arrange the reservation for you and you pay that club directly. Public beaches such as Cholón and Playa Blanca are also on the route, and there you are free to bring your own food and drinks.

If you are still choosing where to go, our complete guide to the Rosario Islands explains how the archipelago is laid out, and the island day passes show what each beach club is like.

Make the day your own

On request we can customize the trip: drinks and food on board, decorations for a celebration, a jet ski, a cabana in the water at Cholón, or anything else you have in mind. The most common extras are listed in the booking form, and there is a box where you can write what you need. We confirm the price of special requests before your trip.

Good to know before you book

The boat takes a maximum of 24 guests, children included. Only one group can book La Leona per day, so the date is blocked for you as soon as you pay. Sea conditions change through the year, and the captain may adjust the route or the timing for your safety.
